Life for refugee populations in the Afrin district and Azaz corridor at the border of Turkey has been a relentless struggle.
The region, home to over 6 million people, is grappling with a severe water shortage and widespread food insecurity. Among them, 1.7 million are living in makeshift refugee camps, where basic necessities are scarce.
Food is scarce for millions of refugee children and families.
The reduction in aid from the World Food Programme (WFP) has only worsened the crisis, leaving over 3 million refugees without essential support, while just 2.5 million receive limited assistance. This cutback has intensified poverty and hunger, pushing already vulnerable populations further into desperation.
These are people who once lived in homes filled with the warmth of family and the comfort of routine—jobs, schools, and the places that held their memories. Now, they struggle to get something as simple as bread and water.
Can you imagine if your life and home suddenly turned into this?

Food insecurity and extreme poverty across these refugee communities is more than just an empty stomach.
The hidden toll affects nearly every aspect of life. The constant struggle to secure their next meal takes away their time to build a livelihood and leaves them with little resources to spend on anything other than food.
This leaves millions of refugees being forced to sacrifice medical care, hygiene essentials, and other basic living items. Women and children are left to walk long distances daily to fetch water, taking time away from education and other livelihood activities.
Walking long distances to collect water is a common daily task for refugee children.
To make things even worse, the lack of sanitation infrastructure and the use of contaminated water have led to a rise in skin diseases, diarrhea, and cholera, especially among the elderly and children.
Bottom line: Without food security and access to basic water and sanitation, refugee populations are left stuck—vulnerable to preventable diseases and unable to rebuild their lives.

#2: Water Before Medicine Project
ELVEFA is on-ground distributing clean water for 500 families daily. Access to clean and safe water also significantly reduces the risk of disease.
Together with your support, ELVEFA’s Water before Medicine Project can achieve three key goals:
💠 Enhancing Food Security
Ensure access to clean water for 500 families, each receiving 10 liters daily for 60 days.
💠 Reducing Financial and Psychological Burdens
Reduces the costs and stress of securing water. This will reduce the burden on women and children and allow them to focus on livelihood opportunities and education.
💠 Minimizing Health Risks
Reduce the spread of waterborne diseases by providing safe drinking water.
ELVEFA’s efforts have provided refugee children with access to clean water, relieving them of the burden of walking long distances to get water.
Providing bread and access to clean water to the most needy refugee communities in war-torn areas involves many steps. Your donation will help ELVEFA achieve this mission by directly helping them:

✅ Work with local authorities to ensure smooth project implementation.
✅ Research and contract suppliers for flour and other necessary materials.
✅ Hire bakery workers to prepare and pack the bread.
✅ Arrange for transportation to distribute bread to beneficiaries.
✅ Contract a water tanker to deliver water daily to the bakery.
✅ Establish monitoring standards and ensure quality.
✅ Submit narrative and financial reports to donors.
✅ Measure the project’s impact on beneficiaries.

“O people, spread peace (greet others with salam), feed the hungry, and pray at night when others are asleep, and you will enter Paradise in peace.”(Tirmidhi)
Sa’id reported Sa’d came to the Prophet (SWAS) and asked him Which sadaqah do you like most? He replied Water.
